That’s the idea GivenGain was founded on – and the purpose that still drives us today.
In 2001, brothers Johannes and Jaco van Eeden set out to build something different – not a business, but a platform built entirely for good. A place where anyone, anywhere, could raise funds for the causes they care about. A platform designed to remove friction, inspire action, and help more people do more good.
That platform became GivenGain.
Over the years, many successful commercial applications flowed from the technology first developed at GivenGain – including a global fintech company. But GivenGain always remained at the heart of what we do – our reason for being.
In 2022, following private equity investment into the commercial business, Johannes returned to lead GivenGain, renewing its focus on the mission that started it all.
Today, GivenGain is a nonprofit foundation with a global footprint. From New York, London, the Swiss Alps, and Cape Town, we’re powered by a team of technologists, strategists, and nonprofit specialists united by one purpose: to make generosity borderless.
